SpaceBuzz
SpaceBuzz is a teaching curriculum that uses “The Overview Effect” as a metaphor to make children “Ambassadors of the Earth”. This is all about sustainability based on their own experience and conviction. This insight comes from the experience that astronauts had while looking down on the Earth from ISS. They noticed what “we” are doing to the Earth and that there is no “escape”. In other words, a better world starts with you. And even more: you actually influence it!
The non-profit SpaceBuzz education foundation is inspired by the "Overview Effect" that - until recently - could only be experienced by astronauts themselves. Spacebuzz aims that all children in the world are able to follow in the footsteps of astronauts and have this experience themselves.
Inspiring technology
Implementing the power of modern technology, a VR-based education program has been created allowing children to experience the "Overview Effect". Spacebuzz inspires and educates children through an experiential learning program about space, planet earth and technology.
As with astronauts, skills like communication, problem-solving, collaboration and creativity are highly important within the program. The educational program ends with a real-life mission to space with the SpaceBuzz rocket.
